# Installation

How to install Nibit and enable it as a secondary keyboard.

## Install from Google Play

[Install Nibit from Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.croutoncreations.nibit) and open the app.

## Set up Nibit

When you open Nibit for the first time, the app walks you through two setup steps.

### 1. Enable the Accessibility Service

Tap **Open Settings**, find **Nibit** in the accessibility services list, and turn it on. This is what lets Nibit detect your snippet triggers and expand them in place as you type.

Once enabled, return to the app and tap **Continue**.

> Nibit only reads text to detect snippet triggers — it does not log or transmit your keystrokes.

### 2. Enable the Nibit Keyboard

Tap **Open Settings**, find **Nibit** in the keyboards list, and toggle it on. This adds Nibit as a secondary keyboard so you can switch to it from any text field.

Once enabled, return to the app and tap **Continue**.

When setup is complete, tap **Start using Nibit**.

## Switch to Nibit while typing

Once installed, switch to Nibit from any text field:

- Tap the **globe icon** (🌐) in the bottom-left corner of your keyboard

Select **Nibit** from the list. Switch back the same way when you're done.

## Sign in (optional)

You don't need an account to use snippets locally. Sign in to unlock cross-device sync, the web companion, and cloud backup — these features require a Cloud Pro subscription.
